Halfway Marker!!! Day 7!

This morning the doctor and intern (Erin) come in for the usual morning checkup. I greet them with a smile and sit up as the doctor comes a sits by my side, holding my chart that they make their daily notes in. Next to that, what do I see but my lab report.
I gasp, "Are those my labs?!"
Doctor, "Yes they are."
I glance at Erin, who I've become friends with and she knows my whole story, and then glance back, trying not to wiggle with anticipation, "So what's my platelet count?"
He casually gestures with a hand, raised in a slightly defensive position, "It's nothing exciting.. still low..."
Me, still trying not to wiggle and straining to read the numbers upside down, "Yeah.. but what is it??"
"23.."
Erin and I exchange a breathless, girlie "AAAHH!"
But the Doctor explains how the number can be misleading. The way it works is they take a sample of your blood, spin it (or whatever else needs to be done), and then a count is collected. Then an estimate is made according to that number in proportion to the rest of your blood. But when you're fasting, numbers start to get thrown a bit because the blood concentration changed. Even still..... it's exciting. :) We'll know for sure if it's going up when next week labs come in.

No lecture or video this morning.. not sure why. I go to the dinning room (which is where these things are typically held), and there's a few friends sitting, eating, and chatting. I join them and we all had a very nice chat. They had a lot of questions for me about my job and music in general, and I had a few stories to tell that had them laughing heartily.

A package arrived for me today from Margaret. :D A cute dress, and lots of art supplies! I haven't done any kind of art in a long time, so I'm very excited to try them out... I think I'll try to watercolor the fountain....

I'm moving tomorrow morning, apparently. This isn't a surprise, and I'm happy I got to stay in this room for as long as I have. Technically the room I am currently in is more expensive, but since the room I was supposed to be in was not available, they put me in this one (and I didn't have to pay the extra). My next room will be on the second floor.. so I'll get some exercise using the stairs! HA! :D And I think we get a balcony... I'll find out tomorrow.
People will come to help me move, since my energy level is not adequate to be carrying around bags and keyboards.

My goodness I can't believe I'm halfway there...

  1. Nice :) Of course 23 is nothing to write home about really, but still, the fact that it is going up is encouraging.
Fun to get a package from Margaret :) Painting is fun and relaxing. Do you think you will be able to write any music....or does that take too much energy??
    Love you sweetheart,
