Started a new goal..

And that goal: Be able to run a mile faster than I did when I was in high school.. which was 9:10 (as I recall). Yesterday was a beautiful day.. cold, but beautiful. So I took the moment and went for a jog. Normally, I hate jogging, but as of late, I find myself more open to all areas of physical activity. And in the end, I quite enjoyed it (especially how I felt after). Grant it, it was only 20 minutes.. and yes, I did walk a small portion of it.
Then today, I discovered the "dare" section on livestrong.com. Essentially, you can take on different dares (and give them as well). So I took the dare to run every day! Then mother dearest and I went to the gym (I had to drag her..heheheh) and I got my run in. 2 miles in 20 minutes.. not so bad, especially since I'm not a runner. Though if I keep this up, I just might become one sooner than I think! :D

My cold is almost gone... All I have left is a little cough now and again.. and sneeze now and again.. and snot that's more like glue than anything else. Oh.. and little red spots EVERYwhere (which happens now everytime I get sick). Oh platelets, how to tease me so. I don't know the current count, but it is down down down for sure. I get really light headed whenever I stand up when they get really low... and that's currently happening... sooo.. yeah.... My guess is high teens, perhaps. I went and bought a bunch of celery to help get them up a little after this illness.
But besides that, I feel wonderful. Ahhhh. :D

Green Glop Goodness

This is what I've had for breakfast nearly every morning for over a year now. It is so absolutely wonderful and I can't seem to get tired of it.

I call it.... Green Glop :)

Essentially, it's a bunch of veggies (mostly green)
blended with a banana and coco powder, and then
poured over oatmeal, fruit, and some nuts.
Nom nom nom, as the saying goes.

Ingredients (all these are raw)

  • 1 medium Banana
  • 2 Carrots
  • 1/2 cup Chard
  • 1/2 cup Spinach
  • 1/4 medium Zucchini
  • 1 tbsp Cilanto
  • 1 tbsp Parsley
  • 1 tbsp Cacao Nibs or powder
  • 1 tsp Vanilla Extract
  • 8 drops liquid Stevia
Directions

Blend all ingredients in a blender until smooth.

Then pour on top of oatmeal/cottage cheese/grains/whatever you desire, and top it off with some chopped nuts and fruit. Wallah! A nutrition packed breakfast, but still tastes great!

Why hello cold... you can leave now

My trip to the Bay Area was quite wonderful. Good quality time with good friends always makes for a pleasant weekend. The only bummer was I was sick the whole time.. and unfortunately, still am. It started out as a tightness in my chest, and has now worked it's way into my nose... all the while slightly coughing. Now the question is, did I just manage to snag what's going around (apparently) or is this the h-pathy doing it's thing. I mean.... I wouldn't be too surprised that it's the latter, cause I've had my fair share of colds and then some. I was telling my mother today that having a cold is very nostalgic to me. That's right. I said 'nostalgic.' I was sick with a cold SO much as a kid, that having one brings back all the good memories of my younger years.. romping and playing about. Colds never stopped me. They were just nearly always there. That gives a better idea of how often I was sick, I think.

At any rate.. I'm pooped. I have more I want to write, but don't have the energy.... Early bed time for me. *Zonk*

Off to the Bay!

I'm off today to visit my best friend in the Bay. It'll be a good weekend, and we'll get some quality one on one girl time! Finally! :D

I stumbled across a website today: http://www.livestrong.com
It's fantastic.. and GREAT for keeping track of what you're eating... I'm supposed to keep a food journal, to see if I'm eating anything that isn't working well for my body (To accomplish that, I also need to be journaling about how I feel everyday). It can be a bit much, but if I get to find out how many calories I'm eating along with it, it's easier to do. So with that said, I'm discovering I'm eating more calories than I though.. which would explain why I'm having a hard time loosing weight. I'm maintaining like a champ!... just not loosing. We want losers here, people! Not maintainers. After this discovery, I started jogging around the house everytime I was up to get something.... lifting my knees as high as I could. It looks tramendously silly, but hey! I need to burn some of those extra calories off.... and there's only one way to do that now isn't there.

So even though I'm not loosing weight yet, I've been feeling so great these days... and espically in the past couple of days. WHOO! Talk about on the up swing! On Tuesday I had my hair up in a clip all day and when I took it down in the evening it looked..well... fabulous. So I took a picture:

Fresh beginning and old reminders

Before I start this actual post, I just want to say that I bent my pinky nail backwards whilst playing with the kitty. It hurts like crazy and the corner has now turned purple (as one would expect). It's making it difficult to type.

And now for our regularly scheduled posting:
Mom and I went to the gym today. I went with her last week, but was quite out of it having just received the notice about my blood sugar. Needless to say, today was a far better workout. I made a new booklet to keep track of everything... workout, food journal, etc. It's cute and compact and gets the job done. Really now, I'm feeling quite good about all this.
While looking through my gym bag trying to find my gloves for rowing, I found my old workout booklet. The start date was 12/28/09... and apparently, I was feeling like absolute crap... and continued to feel like crap for a solid month plus. The last entry is 2/2/10, so I don't know exactly what happened after that. I do know I started riding my back again shortly there after.. and shortly after that got diagnosed with ITP. I find it quite interesting that I was feeling so incredibly terrible just before my platelets dropped. I don't even remember feeling that way... but it's written out quite clearly in the 'notes' section. It's moments like these that I wish I had journalled (that's right... I made up a new verb.. If the noun can be made into a gerund, then by golly it can be a verb!) every single day.... cause you just never know when you're going to need to look back. I guess that kind of goes against the whole 'don't look back' thing, but in times like these, it's real helpful.

I love the way I feel now.. and it's only getting better. :D

Is that a cold I feel? Or just crap leaving my body....

Day 3! So far nothing big has happened that I’ve notice... well.. unless you count feeling AMAZING big. Heheheh... Yes, I feel very good right now. Need to kick up the exercise, but emotionally I'm doing very very well. There’s been a few small things that may or may not be because of the treatment. Tonight, however, I'm starting to get a sore throat... so I think that's a good thing... crap is exiting the body! Pack your bags, it's time to go!

My lab results came in.... I haven't seen them yet, nor know the numbers, but according to the nurse everything is in normal range and looks very good. I'll get a copy when I go to see my GP in a few weeks. I suppose I could go up early and just get a copy.... I may..... it's a little bit of a drive.... 30 min..... I'll think about it.

I've set a few goals for myself school wise, and have now set some health wise:
GOAL 1: Weigh 130 by my birthday (which is about 5 weeks away.. so that’s 2 pounds a week)
GOAL 2: Workout in some way EVERY day... even if it's just some push ups before going to bed (like I'll do tonight), or planking, or yoga... but at least SOMEthing EVERY day. :) I like this goal... it's easy and simple.. and day to day. So everyday I can feel accomplished in completing a goal, so long as I do something. Clearly it would be most beneficial if I get in a good workout... but some days it's harder to get in because of work/school.

20 past bed time! Ciao!
